Rolls-Royce chooses Dubai for PR debut
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, September 22 - 2002 at 16:58
- PRESS RELEASE
Rolls-Royce Plc, who provide Trent aero engines for Emirates Boeing 777s and A 330s, has held its first public relations conference outside the UK in Dubai.
Martin Brodie, Head of Corporate Media Relations, said: "In the past, we met every year in the UK, but this year we really wanted to demonstrate how international Rolls-Royce has become. The best way of doing this was to have the conference at an international venue - but one that had a real business reference to Rolls-Royce."
Brodie continued, "When Terry Holland, our regional director for the UAE, based at the Dubai Airport Free Zone, invited us to consider Dubai, we did and it fulfilled our criteria perfectly making it a straight forward decision."
Brodie added that Dubai also offered some of the best conference facilities in the world and real value for money, a key factor when delegates had to travel from fourteen different countries.
During the two-day conference, delegates visited Emirates Engineering to see how the airline, which when it adds the A340-600 to its fleet will become wholly Rolls-Royce powered, carries out a wide range of engineering tasks.
Delegates came from many locations including Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, and Sydney. In addition to the conference, they also had time for relaxation, including a cruise on the creek and the Desert Safari.
