Abdali will be highlighting the investment opportunities it is offering while showcasing the various components of the project such as the new Boulevard, the crown jewel of the project, a public walkway running east/west between the towers sector and the central marketplace. The boulevard is 370 meters long and 21 meters wide and composed of 12 mid rise buildings with terrace cafes, restaurants, office and retail space, shopping, public seating, and 2 stunning piazzas which bring the entire area to life.
In addition to showcasing the Boulevard, several of the major investment developments in the downtown project will be on display at the Abdali stand in Cityscape. To name but a few, the projects on display will comprise of the following: A commercial complex for Mr. Nashat Sahawneh & Mr. Thamin Fakhoury, with the assigned contractor Al Hamad Construction and Development; the Land International and Development commercial building; "VERTEX Tower Residences" and "CommerceOne" office building by Turnkey Managers-DCC, "The Heights" residential tower by Damac and the 220 meters high "Capital Tower" by Capital Bank of Jordan, designed by Foster & Partners.
Jamal Itani, CEO of Abdali Investment and Development Psc. stated:
"The capital of Jordan, Amman, with more than 1.6 million inhabitants, is rapidly growing and increasingly receiving more attention, as is evident by the huge investments taking place from around the region. With globalization taking on an increasing relevance in the country, the capital was in need of a major revival that would help it to adapt to this fast-changing world, and it was felt that a new modern downtown would address the issue. Previously, the only thing that Amman had close to a downtown was the old "balad". This was an old traditional souq which, though charming in its local appeal, lacked the grandeur and modernity that Jordan was seeking to instill in visitors and was not particularly representative of a growing city. Hence, no city center had been really defined until the plans for Abdali reached the table."
Mr. Atani added, "The thinking was that the creation of a visible presence in the center of Amman would be a tangible achievement in the drive towards modernization that the city is striving for and would further its strategy to become an important regional hub."
Abdali's participation at Cityscape 06 highlights the strategic importance that the project is bringing in terms of investment, social and cultural welfare for Amman, while firmly placing the Kingdom of Jordan on the international map as a major business and tourist destination. The project will no doubt change the perception of the city in the minds of foreign investors. Translated in material terms, this means greater monetary investment and added credence to Amman's prospects as a financial center, with businesses choosing it as a base for their activities in the region.
Comprising an area of 350,000 square meters of prime land and of an investment surpassing 1.5 Billion USD, the Abdali development area is the largest contiguous, single-owned, vacant plot in the centre of Amman. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and underground works completed, the Abdali project is now ready to rise up. The Abdali project will more than likely turn Amman into a thriving city both commercially and financially. Abdali, more than a strategic urban development, is a smart city converging media and telecom infrastructure to enable the delivery of state of the art technologies to each and every home, office and outlet, while offering district energy solutions to guarantee a sound and friendly environment all the while allowing for large savings in the area of energy expenditures.
