The breakfast event, which is open to both members and non-members of the British Business Group (BBG), will examine how emphasis on corporate governance can not only build a strong culture of fairness in the region, but also improve a company's decision-making process and its bottom line performance.
Definitions of the concept of 'corporate governance' include the promotion of corporate fairness, transparency and accountability and the establishment of efficient and well-defined management and organizational structures.
BBG member Dominic Treays, who is chairing the event, said:
"Organisations and authorities in the region are increasingly pushing for a stronger recognition of and commitment to corporate governance. We will be looking at how the implementation of corporate governance in this region fits with international standards, what demands this has on the role of a company secretary and what we can expect in the future. We are expecting a lively discussion and strongly encourage any company secretaries to join us."
The event is one of a regular programme of meetings held by the BBG's Legal Special Interest Group, which is targeted at BBG members and non-members with an interest in the law or legal topics. The BBG also has a range of other Special Interest Groups covering fields including banking and finance, construction, education and insurance.
