Dubai's population reaches 1,321,453

Dubai's population has hit 1,321,453 (one million three hundred twenty one thousand four hundred fifty three) according to the latest census conducted on population, residential units and establishments in the emirate.
The significant statistics were announced by Dubai Statistics Centre, which pointed out that the increase in the number of male population reflects on the increased pace of construction and economic activities, for which a big number of unskilled labourers are brought to the emirate.
The 2005 census also revealed that the majority of the population comprises of people in the age group of 30-34 years. This category amounts to 256,638 or 19.42 percent. This category was only 139,106 in the year 2000, which shows that there has been an increase of 84.49 percent in the last five years.
The next big category in the population is people in the age group of 25-29 years. This group's population is 256,384 or 19.40 percent. This category was only 136,622 in the year 2000, which shows that there has been an increase of 87.66 percent in the last five years.
People in the age group of 35-39 years are the third big category. This group's population is 195,987 or 14.83 percent. This category was 126,490 in the year 2000, which shows that there has been an increase of 54.94 percent in the last five years.
The reason behind the increased population in these categories is attributed to the big leap in the construction and economic projects that require foreign labour force in big number.
