Titled UAE Investor Project, the workshops will be held from December 10 -14 at City Season Hotel, Dubai. Over 300 UAE nationals have already registered for the 5-day event.

The workshops are part of the annual plan of DED's Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Section at the Business Development division and are being organised to foster and improve national entrepreneurs' ability in starting and managing their own businesses. The workshops will be conducted by experts and will tackle new subjects that help national business entrepreneurs adapt to the local and international business atmosphere, in addition to handling opportunities and challenges while developing their businesses.

"The workshops are being organised to provide the growing number of young educated UAE nationals an encouraging climate of growth, and appropriate education and training for their national human development," said Mr. Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development at DED.

"It is important to streamline the growth of SME entrepreneurs bearing in mind their rising contribution to the economy of the country, while also creating a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. The workshops have been specially adapted to suit the needs of entrepreneurs who already own businesses or are planning to start on their own, and aim to encourage them to develop their interests further," added Mr. Khalid.

The workshops will help participants to determine specific strategic paths for their projects and develop their skills in identifying and analysing various options. They will also tackle the problems and challenges that obstruct the development of small and middle-sized businesses and identify reasons why many small businesses fail. The workshops also introduce participants to tools that can help them solve these problems. Participants will be encouraged to recognise their abilities and match them effectively with particular business areas that complement their abilities.

The Business Development Division at DED has been proactive in organising several training programmes, workshops, SME Diploma courses, conferences and seminars for the benefit of the national entrepreneurs.
