The new HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current) testing system, along with the load (power cable tested), establishes a powerful high voltage at minimum power input and is capable of testing voltage cables up to 400 kV. The equipment is also equipped with the latest generation of PD (partial discharge) measurement system including options for cable fault location.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hameed Salahuddin, Director, ETA Ascon and Star Group, said, 'This new initiative is in line with our commitment to providing state-of-the-art solutions for the growing power sector in the region. ETA is one of the few major companies worldwide owning an HV mobile test system of similar range and expertise.
The new testing system is completely computerized with a highly reduced margin for error and will substantially increase the efficiency in time and cost involved in testing of new cables, fault diagnosis, and testing and rectification of cable joints of various ratings.
Salahuddin added: 'This testing system will be available to industries in all public and private sectors in the UAE and the adjoining GCC / Middle - East Countries and will be a boon for valued clients like DEWA, ADWEA, SEWA, FEWA, DUBAL and other multinational and national companies.'
