Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) MENA lands highest number of campaign media planning awards

SMG MENA reinforce their number one position in the region by being honoured as media agency of the year at last week's Campaign Middle East 2006 Media Planning inaugural award ceremony - the region's first dedicated ceremony recognising excellence and creativity in media across the Middle East.

In a competition amongst a number of the industry's largest MBUs, SMG MENA walked away with the most awards of the night, a total of 11 awards of which six were gold. This recognition by the judges, a selection of industry peers and clients, goes to show how SMG MENA has fully delivered on promises to its clients, employees and industry.

For Philip Jabbour, SMG MENA Group Director, Marketing and Business Development, this is a particularly important recognition, he said, "following a challenging 2005, this is great gratification to all the team members for being recognized in the industry in such a dominating fashion."

"This goes to prove that if we continue to focus on what we know and do best and that is insightful communication solutions that help build our clients business, then rewards are bound to follow. We know what a great year we were having, with this acknowledgement an added great sense of pride felt in each and every team member," he added.

The latest monitoring figures from Ipsos-Stat show that the sustained growth of SMG MENA in the past nine months has propelled it to the top. With a monitored investment of more than $520 million, from January to September 2006, the results show that SMG MENA is the number one media agency in terms of billings in the region.

The Campaign Media Planning Awards are designed to reflect the rapidly developing standards and expertise in media planning across the region. The objective of which is to celebrate the most creative media ideas, innovations, and organisations, by ensuring a high level of transparency and integrity in the judging process.
