Ahmed Essa Hareb Al Falahi, Chief Executive Officer and Jim Hayer, Chief Operating Officer, received the award on behalf of GEM from Mohammad Souri, Chairman and Managing Director, National Iranian Tanker Company - Guest of Honour at the DIMAs.
Facing stiff competition from the other long established tanker companies in the region and Indian Subcontinent, GEM bagged the award because of its high safety standards and operational merit which has ensured a high-profile presence internationally.
"This recognition is befitting GEM's status as the leading product tanker operator in the Middle East," said Hareb.
"Seatrade DIMAs champion high standards and quality in shipping and represent international efforts to improve maritime safety, on board security, environmental consciousness and overall efficiency of shipping."
"In just two years of operation GEM has made a significant impact on the global tanker industry, with 12 vessels due over the next 36 months, and our standing in international rankings is set to rise even further," he continued.
GEM is certified by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance to the ISO-2000 Quality Management System and ISO 14001-2004 Environment Management System for the operational and technical management of its fleet.
"Continual improvement is a way of life at GEM as it enables us to maintain and improve our excellent safety record and our quality leadership position," commented Hayer.
The DIMA awards are sponsored annually by Seatrade - the publishing and events house organising the Seatrade Middle East Maritime event.
