National Bank of Dubai unveils new and innovative training academy

In a revolutionary and radically different approach to training, National Bank of Dubai today announced the launch of NBD Academy, a comprehensive training facility that primarily caters to the training and development of UAE Nationals.

The fully-equipped academy, which is located in Al Awir, will provide a platform for UAE Nationals in both the Al Misha'al and Programme for Accelerated Learning (PAL) to become leaders within their areas of expertise. Al Misha'al is the bank's leading training programme that helps high school graduates to perform specialist roles in Retail Banking and Operations. PAL is NBD's Graduate Trainee programme where fresh graduates go through a challenging 21-month training to gain the skills and knowledge to perform supervisory or managerial roles.

Managed by a dedicated Academy Manager, Nationals will get hands-on work experience while acquiring specialized work-related skills and networking within the banking industry. The NBD Academy is specifically designed to create the right environment allowing students to get a taste of real life banking and security situations.

The NBD Academy will include fully equipped training rooms with audio-visual equipment, computers and training aids. Also, the academy also houses a simulation branch fitted with all the equipment, software and furnishing to simulate a real NBD branch. It has dedicated teller, personal banker and manager stations to enable trainees to practice the functions they would eventually be performing.

Moreover, the academy will also incorporate a state-of-the-art Virtual Learning Centre as well as a lending and reference library similar to the Main Library in the at the head office Development Centre. The academy's location now allows NBD staff from across the UAE easy access to the new off site facility for their training needs.

"The NBD Academy will enable us to achieve our long term strategic objective of attracting UAE Nationals and preparing them for assuming various roles within the bank," said Husam Al Sayed, Head of Human Resources, National Bank of Dubai. "We are constantly on the look out for National talents and we will always offer the best training programmes to motivate a predominately young population to work towards a new and brighter future for the UAE."
