IQPC "Achieving Health and Safety Best Practice in Construction" conference to be held in Dubai

Forward thinking contractors and developers line up to demonstrate their commitment to improving health and safety on construction sites.

Key players from the Middle East construction industry will join forces at the forthcoming "Achieving Health and Safety Best Practice in Construction" conference on 25-28 February 2007 at the Grosvenor House, Dubai.

Recent pressures from regulators and stakeholders have driven industry leaders to rethink their policies and practices and take bold steps to improving their health and safety performance. Major clients like Nakheel are demanding change on site and are rewarding contractors who have good health and safety records.

Commenting on the issue, Robert Lee, Director of Development at Nakeel said. "It is not enough to have world-class building and infrastructure in the region, we also need to have world class health and safety practices".

Other speakers at the international conference include Dubai Municipality, OSHO, Emirates Safety Group, JAFZA, ETA Ascon, Bovis Lend Lease, Strabag, Nasa Multiplex, Dutco Balfour Beatty, Al Naboodah Contracting and Arabtec.

Al Naboodah Contracting are leading the way with innovative solutions to implementing intensive training sessions on site and ensuring competencies of a multi-lingual workforce.

Commenting on the event, David Bass, Health and Safety Manager from Al Naboodah Contracting said; "Achieving health and safety best practice is something we, as an industry, must all aspire too, and this event goes a long way to supporting this aim."
