ICLDC is a state-of-the-art specialised out-patients clinic geared to help detect, prevent and treat diabetes.

Diabetes is ranked as one of the world's fastest growing debilitating illnesses, and could affect more than 65 per cent of the UAE's population by 2010, up from 20.1 per cent in 2003, if not treated as a priority by the medical sector and society at large.

Dr Maha Taysir Barakat, Consultant Endocrinologist, Medical & Research Director at ICDLC, Abu Dhabi said, "Through these forums we will bring together the UAE's leading physicians to discuss and share case history experiences. In many instances diabetes can be prevented if detected very early on and this must be an objective. We will share knowledge on management and prevention of diabetes at the monthly forums"

The Diabetes Specialists Forums are open to Endocrinologists, Cardiologists, Internal Medicine Physicians and Primary Care Physicians. This, the first of a series of forums will begin at 8.30 p.m. on December 13, 2006 at the ICLDC Lecture Theatre (2nd Floor), next to Zayed Military Hospital, Abu Dhabi (intersection of 30th & 29th Streets).
