Varghese relinquishes his position as Assistant General Manager and his appointment follows the resignation of the previous incumbent, Ahmed Khalil.

"Taking on this role will be a challenging and interesting opportunity though I am sure that my previous experience will assist me in achieving Toshiba Computer Systems Division's regional objectives," said Varghese. "Ahmed Khalil steered the division's regional strategy with tremendous results in the last few years and I will be looking to further strengthen our market-leading position and take Toshiba's notebook business to the next level of excellence."

Varghese moves into the role from his position as Toshiba's Assistant General Manager following a rigorous selection process focussed on leadership and management skills. Previously, Varghese held the position of Toshiba's regional Sales and Marketing Manager, responsible for the sales and marketing activities for the GCC, in particular Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the UAE.

"Santosh has been with Toshiba for four years, and during this time has shown remarkable strategic and leadership skills," commented Pieter Ickx, General Manager, Computer System Division for Emerging Markets EMEA. "These skills are primary requirements for a Toshiba General Manager and as invaluable asset, I am certain his new vision for its regional notebook division will help us reach new heights.

"Companies like Toshiba accept and plan for change as a part of the business cycle and its customers can be assured their existing relationship with Toshiba will continue uninterrupted. We wish Ahmed Khalil good luck with his new endeavours and we hope that our paths cross again in the future."

Varghese holds a bachelor's degree in communication and electronics engineering from the University of Bharathiar in South India. Before joining Toshiba, he was Channel Manager and Product Manager for Intel Servers at the Emirates Technology Company (EMITAC), where he was responsible for channel management & technical pre-sales support to the storage reseller channel and direct sales force.
