Hacking security losses top AED2.5 billion worldwide
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, December 13 - 2006 at 13:07
- PRESS RELEASE
LP Global Solutions FZ LLC (LPGS), a leading solutions provider of information security, telecommunications, technology, engineering and systems integration services, announced today the launch of 'SafeNet's ProtectDrive Enterprise Version' for the Middle East.
ProtectDrive Enterprise Version was developed by SafeNet to prevent the loss of potentially compromising data when a laptop is lost or stolen, or when an information system is hacked into. According to the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC), losses due to stolen information have reached an all time high.
"As we have all seen too many times, potential data breaches are increasingly common. Laptop theft and misplacement, as well as server violations and data theft from discarded systems, have allowed millions of records to enter the wrong hands," commented Henri Kassab, managing director of LP Global Solutions. "According to the FTC more than 88 million stolen records containing sensitive, personal information have been stolen worldwide since February 2005 and in 2005, 685,000 consumer complaints were filed reporting losses of AED2.5 billion. Clearly, the need exists for enhanced data protection."
SafeNet is the first company to offer disk encryption with full central management through Microsoft's Active Directory Management System. In addition, the solution offers removable media protection for USB sticks which gives users a flexible approach to removable media with password-based access combined with centrally managed policies. The solution is a valuable tool for helping organizations in complying with regulation and legislation. Data secured by the software meets FIPS 140-2, Level 2-certification.
LPGS set up its operations at Dubai Internet City (DIC) to handle Middle East, Africa and Asia-wide business opportunities in October 2005, and offers a wide range of products including encryption solutions, biometric authentication systems, high-availability VPNs, site control devices to cryptographic techniques and ID-card systems.
Other regional partnerships developed with LPGS in the region include MCI, Huawei Technologies, and many other world renowned companies. The company's services cover a broad range of technology related sectors and disciplines from technology strategy consulting services, application management and outsourcing, enterprise portals, e-commerce, telecommunications Services (via wireless, fiber, and satellite), IP Communications Services and security products and consulting services.
