DuBiotech awarded coveted ISO 9001:2000 certification

DuBiotech received the certification from the International Organisation for Standards, for meeting its requirements for a well-designed and documented quality management system.

Dr. Abdulqader Alkhayat, Executive Director, DuBiotech said: "As part of our objective to create a hub for biotechnology excellence, we are keen to ensure that our internal quality management processes meet the highest international standards.

"The ISO 9001:2000 certification validates our commitment to quality and demonstrates our ability to meet global benchmarks. It also recognises the high priority we place on measurable quality objectives."

A team of in-house auditors from TECOM Investments, DuBiotech's parent company, will undertake regular reviews of its quality systems to ensure they consistently meet ISO 9001: 2000 standards. The work of the internal auditors will be audited bi-annually by the international auditing firm Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd.

As part of its continuous effort to meet and exceed international standards, DuBiotech will also seek ISO 17025 certification for its lab buildings, among other global standards.

DuBiotech is building an environment and infrastructure for key players across the life sciences industry value chain to develop and flourish. The park provides a growth-oriented environment for a variety of biotech sectors to thrive. These include drug discovery, R&D, manufacturing and industry-specific services.

The ISO 9001 certification is part of DuBiotech's larger effort to achieve international excellence in all its operations. DuBiotech is working with the UAE Ministry of Health and the Department of Health and Medical Sciences (DoHMS) as well as global research leader RTI International to develop a regulatory framework for the zone modelled on global best practices.

DuBiotech's certification builds on the excellence programme of its parent company, TECOM Investments. TECOM brands that have already achieved certification include Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Knowledge Village, International Media Production Zone, Dubai Outsource Zone and Samacom.
