The high level delegation, which had selected Dubai Duty Free as part of a global study of top airport retail operations, was met by a team of senior managers, including George Horan, General Manager of Dubai Duty Free and Brendan O' Shea, Deputy General Manager, Operations. The site visit included a tour of the 5,400 square metre shopping complex in Sheikh Rashid Terminal, as well as a presentation on the growth and development of the operation since it began in 1983.
Currently ranked No. 6 in the world in terms of turnover, Dubai Duty Free is well on track to achieve record sales of Dhs1 billion (US$280 million) in 2002. Widely regarding as an innovator within the industry, the operation is the current holder of Frontier's 'Airport Retailer of the Year' award.
Commenting on the significance of the visit, Mr. George Horan said: "We are delighted and honored by the visit of such a high profile delegation. It reflects the high esteem in which the Dubai Duty Free operation is held within the aviation industry. We were delighted to share with them our experiences and best practices."
