- United Arab Emirates: Monday, December 18 - 2006 at 14:52
- PRESS RELEASE
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, has approved a Dhs1.32 million project for building prayer halls in Dubai's public parks.
Mr. Lootah said the project, which will be completed by the end of next year, will enable visitors to the public parks to perform their daily prayers in a quiet and secluded environment. At present, worshippers use open areas in the parks for offering their prayers.
Zabeel Park, the largest public park in Dubai which was opened in December last year, already has a prayer hall each for men and women, while Mushrif Park hosts a grand mosque that can accommodate up to 200 worshippers.
