Since the inception of this festival, WGC has been a very enthusiastic partner of the DSF Committee and the Gold Jewellery Group in supporting its various activities - the most prominent amongst them being the annual Dubai Shopping Festival.

The World Gold Council is an active and enthusiastic supporter of DSF in its spectacular and innovative promotions which contribute to the overall global sales of gold despite the inflationary trend. These promotions offer jewellery buyers a chance to win several kilos of gold jewellery - at the same time reinforcing Dubai's position as the Gold Jewellery Destination of the World.

Moaz Barakat, Managing Director, World Gold Council, commented:

"The Council is pleased to announce its continuous support for DSF. The festival has grown rapidly in size and scope to become the largest and most dynamic festival of its kind in the world. Dubai has earned the title of 'City of Gold', and the continuous marketing efforts of the World Gold Council and its partners' annual promotions play a large role in creating awareness of this prestigious title locally, and internationally."

Barakat continued: "We are committed to promote gold throughout this Festival and intend to run many campaigns with our other partners targeting various segments in a bid to enhance gold's status."

Dubai has always been a city of opportunities and the gold trade in Dubai has never let an opportunity pass it by. DSF will boost the gold sales in the beginning of the year as previous promotions have proved to be very rewarding.

Mr. Barakat added on the importance of maintained promotional spending needed to ensure that gold demand will continue to rise. The Council supports the sustained promotions of gold jewellery that has driven up the demand for gold and therefore gives full support to the Gold & Jewellery Group during the DSF promotions which is known to be the most important gold promotion festival in the region.

The Council has works closely with the authorities to promote Dubai as the main centre of gold in the region, since the launch of the Dubai Shopping Festival. 'Dubai - City of Gold' has become the highly successful focal-point of the festival over the years.
