DSF Food Festival to present Food-e-tainment and Cyber Food Fest

One among the bigger attractions to be exhibited this year at the Dubai Shopping Festival, the first Food Festival to be held in a DSF edition will bring together different flavours of the world under one roof.

A combination of food and entertainment, the Food festival is one among the thirteen festivals that make the DSF and will figure as a permanent annual event henceforth. Running in two different venues over a total period of two weeks, the event will showcase the finest in international cuisines.

In its inaugural year, the food festival will comprise of two events, Food-e-tainment and Cyber Food Fest. Food-e-tainment will feature live cooking counters, food carvings, and present the biggest buffet in the world. Supervised by Chef Uwe, President of the Culinary Guild and Master Chef of The Radissons, the enticing buffet will have 101 soups, 101 salads, 101 appetizers, 101 main courses, and 101 desserts. The week-long Food-e-tainment will open its doors on the 13th and go on until the 19th of January, 2007 at the Zabeel Park where the culinary feast will begin at 4 pm and run till10 in the night.

Food-e-tainment is aimed at providing DSF visitors with a chance to indulge in cuisines from around the world while participating in the many events that will be held along side it. Apart from hosting the culinary feast, the Zabeel Park will also feature the Panoramic Tower, the IMAX theatre, the Space Maze, and present a complete entertainment package for the family.

A major attraction of Food-e-tainment will be the Live Cooking Counter. Twelve of these cooking counters will have complete kitchens and offer visitors culinary delights from around the world cooked right before their eyes. Chefs from various countries will prepare well-known specialities to add to the festivity.

The central area of the venue will feature an exotic display of fruit and vegetable carvings, crafted by various talented chefs in the UAE. Another major attraction at this food treat will be the Food Bazaar. Visitors will find spices, tea, coffee, nuts, and organic food for sale at the specially set up stall. The Food Bazaar will be a rare outlet with condiments and organic food being exhibited under the same roof.

The main stage at Zabeel Park will be the venue for performances by artistes and street performers. Various international performing groups will provide non-stop entertainment to food lovers during the week-long festival. Food samplers will also go about the venue tempting visitors to visit the food stalls. Entry to the Zabeel Park is priced at a nominal AED 5, while food fanatics can sample and purchase the exhibited fare as per the rates on the menu card.

The Cyber Food Fest, organised by the Dubai Internet City, will showcase a variety of international cuisines over a five-day period. Beginning on the 21st of January, Cyber Food Fest will go on till the 25th of January at the spacious Dubai Internet City Amphitheatre which will be the venue for the food feast from 11 am to 4 pm.

Apart from stalls that will offer local and international cuisine, the food fest will also present live entertainment, cooking sessions, competitions, and games. The event, in its third year, is a definite crowd puller and is aimed at promoting retail businesses operating from the Free Zone.
