Media heads gather for workshop on strategic management at Dubai School of Government

Following the launch of the one-year Media Leadership Development Programme last September, the Dubai School of Government is now conducting the second in a six-part series of workshops on 'Strategic Management' to promote good governance and policy-making among leaders in media organizations.
Dr. Yasar Jarrar, Executive Dean of the Dubai School of Government said: "Strategic Management is crucial for the success of an organization, leading it to accomplish its objectives by comparing the strengths and weaknesses, and determining the best scenarios to achieve sustainable growth, quality and profitability."
He added the session will help bridge the gap between theory and practice and establish a connection between the strategic intent of concepts and their subsequent implementation.
Hussein Lootah, CEO of Dubai Media Inc., Abdullatif Al Sayegh, CEO of Arab Media Group (AMG), and Mona Al Marri, Chairperson, Dubai Press Club are among the 43 participants attending the seminar.
Conducted by Dr. Tarek Hatem, Professor of Management at the American University in Cairo, the workshop aims to develop the skills of trainees, identify challenges that exist within and around the organization, analyze its impact on the performance of the organization and explore solutions to address them.
A second batch of the seminar will be conducted on 24 December for middle management media personnel.
The Media Leadership Development Programme will focus on issues of organizational excellence, strategic thinking and strategic planning, organizational performance measurement and development, leadership and managing change, financial management and marketing. The one-year programme will be concluded with a seminar on best practices in media organizations by industry leaders from the region and the West.

It was established in 2004 under the direction of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai of the UAE.
