This outstanding milestone has been achieved in less than 10 years of production at its factory in Dammam in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to mark the occasion General Motors' managing director Terry Johnsson was presented with a commemorative trophy by Joe Elenz, aftersales director at General Motors Middle East and John Grant, Sales & Marketing Manager - MEBCO.
MEBCO set up the Middle East's first Maintenance Free battery production facility in 1997 and now has a 34% share of the regional battery market. ACDelco, which is a subsidiary of General Motors, has been an integral part of the automotive industry for almost 100 years, establishing a reputation for setting industry standards for top quality automotive parts.
Terry Johnsson paid tribute to MEBCO's success, saying: 'This is a wonderful achievement and congratulations go to everyone who has worked so hard to achieve it. ACDelco batteries are now seen as among the best on the market and we look forward to even more success in the future and the brand continues to expand across the entire region.'
Electric moment for MEBCO as it hits 10 million battery mark
The atmosphere was certainly electric at the Middle East Battery Company (MEBCO) recently when it sparked celebrations to mark the production of its 10 millionth ACDelco maintenance free battery.
