Having registered impressive year on year growth in notebook sales in the MEA region, Acer moved into the number two spot for notebooks in Q3 2006 while steadily consolidating its overall number three position in the MEA market across all product lines. However, new country manager, Shashank Sharma, is setting his sights on even higher goals.

"On a global scale, Acer is undergoing massive expansion and the Middle East in particular is realising exceptional growth rates - even more so than more established markets such as Europe," said Shashank Sharma, Acer Country Manager - KSA, Egypt and East Africa.

"I am keen to assert strong team-building skills fostered in my previous role, and applying this across all the new territories under my responsibility will ensure they are consistently and coherently administered. I believe this will help mirror - if not better - Acer's global growth rate here in the Middle East," added Sharma.

Sharma arrives from Acer's South Africa office where he was previously the commercial manager for the country including the southern African territories and Mauritius.

"With Egypt and KSA two of the largest markets in the Middle East, my new role is an integral part of Acer's continued growth in the MEA region. Having previously had responsibility for a multiple market portfolio across southern Africa, I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities here in the Middle East," added Sharma.
