- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, December 20 - 2006 at 11:46
- PRESS RELEASE
The British Business Group joined in the festive season's spirit of goodwill by donating food parcels to the 'City of Hope', a UAE organisation providing shelter to abused or homeless women and children.
Removals company Allied Pickfords, which is a BBG member, also did its bit by delivering the food to the shelter free of charge.
Nick Dutt, BBG chairman, said: "We do a lot to support and raise awareness of local charities and good causes throughout the year and felt that the City of Hope was a very worthy recipient. We are very happy to be able to help them by donating food during this season of giving and hope it will make a difference."
City of Hope, a non-profit organisation, was established in 2001 to give a safe haven to the victims of social problems such as domestic abuse, human trafficking, discrimination and divorce. The organisation also has a second shelter in Ras Al Khaimah and half of the BBG's food donation will be sent to benefit the women and children living there.
Sharla Musabih said: "The City of Hope was founded by the community and we rely on the continuing support of the community to allow us to carry on our work. A donation such as this is particularly appreciated during the festive season."
The British Business Group was set up in 1987 to encourage the development of British business in the UAE and to strengthen ties between the UK and the Emirates. It undertakes a wide range of activities from communicating with decision makers and testing British goods to sharing best business practice and arranging networking events for its members.
