Oasis seals second agreement with Air Canada

Today, Oasis has announced the purchase and long-term leaseback of two Bombardier CRJ-100ER aircraft. Oasis worked with German Bank LB Kiel to provide the financing for the transaction.

The news follows the earlier acquisition of a new Airbus A321 passenger jet, which will be on lease to Air Canada for 10 years.

Gordon Dixon, CEO, Oasis Leasing, commented: "The Bombardier CRJ family of regional jets is widely acknowledged as the dominant global asset of its class. The regional jet market has been one of the fastest-growing commercial aviation industry sectors in recent years and it is particularly satisfying that our first transaction, in the segment, is a combination of a world class manufacturer and Air Canada."

The Bombardier CRJs were manufactured in 1997 and are powered by two GE CFM34-3A engines. They are capable of carrying up to 50 passengers and are normally used on short haul routes, providing feeder services from hub airports to smaller destinations, or on lower density routes. There are currently 673 CRJs in service with 39 operators, including, Comair, Skywest Airlines and Lufthansa Cityline.

Air Canada is an award-winning airline and part of the Star World Alliance, with its main operational base in Montreal. The carrier flies to over 150 destinations operating a fleet of 329 aircraft, including 25 regional jets.

Oasis has announced a number of new transactions in the third quarter of the year. In announcing its profitable half-year results, the company's Chairman Mohammed Saif Al Mazrouei and Dixon committed to executing further growth.
