The agreement was reached after intensive negotiations between both parties. The TRA would like to congratulate "etisalat" and "du" for this significant achievement.

Interconnection agreements are always complex and involve difficult and sensitive issues for the parties to resolve. It is common that such agreements take a long period of time to reach a final settlement. This is especially true after initiating the first steps of liberalizing the telecommunication market as is the situation in the UAE.

"etisalat" and "du" have successfully managed to overcome these challenges. They managed in their last meeting held at the TRA main office on Thursday to reach an agreement on the issues that were open before them. The agreement will be formally signed in a signing ceremony this Tuesday 26/11/2006. This agreement is an important step forward that will enhance telecommunication competition in the UAE. The TRA is also going to review the agreement after the signatory ceremony for the final approval.
