Dr. Frassica is scheduled to address a symposium on the subject, "Evaluation of Patients with Soft Tissues/Management of Soft Tissue Sarcomas" while Dr. Kebaish will conduct another symposium on the topic, "Evaluation and management of Low Back Pain" at Tawam Hospital in January 2007.

The symposia will be open to doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other healthcare providers from the Eastern Medical Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The proceedings will also be broadcast via video-conferencing facility to the other hospitals supervised by the General Authority of Health Services in Abu Dhabi.

The acclaimed medical professionals will also conduct advanced surgical procedures on selected patients alongside the symposia. This will make Tawam Hospital the first medical facility to host such specialist treatments in the Middle East, adding considerably to its reputation as the region's leading medical institution.

Mr. Michael Heindel, CEO, Tawam Hospital said:

"The symposia will expose the local medical fraternity to the latest advances in surgical procedures and innovative approaches in treatment of cancer and spinal disorders that are being followed in a globally reputed medical institution of the stature of Johns Hopkins Medicine. This will also allow regional patients to avail of world class treatment at affordable costs within the UAE itself, without the inconvenience of having to travel abroad for such specialist treatment."

"Tawam Hospital is honoured to host Dr. Frassica and Dr. Kebaish who have undertaken years of path breaking research in the fields of orthopaedics and oncology and have gained tremendous experience in the management of cancer and spinal disorders. Tawam Hospital is able to bring their expert skills and research to the UAE because of our close partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine. This will considerably add to the skills of local medical professionals and will immensely benefit our patients," Mr. Heindel added.

The 469-bed Tawam Hospital is the Middle East's first medical facility with affiliation to Johns Hopkins Medicine and is preferred for the specialist treatment it offers particularly in oncology, family medicine, fertility services and intensive care. This has made the hospital a major referral centre for critical cases from the UAE and the region.
