Carrefour launches its first branch in Jordan

Carrefour Amman is a joint venture between Majid Al Futtaim Group and Carrefour France. The launch announcement came during a gathering held on Tuesday by Mr. Hattab Aouini, General Manager of Carrefour Jordan, with the attendance of local media representatives.

Carrefour Amman is located in City Mall; the largest shopping center in Jordan, realizing its concept of offering all what you need under one roof and at the lowest prices. Carrefour's sales area is 11,000 square meters which provides more than 40,000 products from Jordan and all over the world. This hypermarket has 2,400 free parking spaces, 40 cash counters and a professional well trained staff totaling more than 450 people; 95% of them are Jordanians.

Mr. Hattab Aouini, General Manager of Carrefour Jordan said: 'Our products satisfy the needs of all Jordanian families at different income levels. We brought into Jordan our long term global expertise that helps us offer the Jordanian shoppers with the same quality, variety and value-for-money shopping experience that is provided all over the world'. He also added: 'We paid good attention to details in all aspects; we adapted the best international program to ensure the utmost strict rules of hygiene in all our fresh product laboratories and with our suppliers'.

Carrefour Jordan contains different sections that varies between the Bakery and Pastry section that prepares and bakes bread and pastry several times per day, the Fruits & Vegetables section offering a large variety of local and imported fruits and vegetables, Butchery & Fishery section, Roastery, Deli & Cheese section, in addition to the Consumer Goods section with a convenient presentation of products. Furthermore, Carrefour contains a Heavy & Light House Hold section offering a wide range of products and brands, in addition to the Textile section.

Established in 1963 in France, Carrefour International is considered to be the first retailer in Europe, and rates the second largest chain worldwide with more than 12,000 Hypermarkets and Supermarkets spreading over more than 30 countries, with a large number of employees exceeding 436,000.

Majid Al Futtaim Group was established in 1992 and has successfully brought the concepts of regional shopping malls and hypermarkets to the Middle East. The group consists of many companies of which comes the MAF Hypermarkets - Carrefour with branches in UAE, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, KSA, Jordan and other countries in the Middle East.
