Three consecutive events designed to highlight the beauty of Tahitian pearls were organised by 'Perles De Tahiti', a non-profit economic interest group created by the French Polynesia Assembly in 1993 to promote Tahiti Cultured Pearls worldwide.

The expertise of Wella Professionals was used to enhance the premiere event by incorprating the pearls themselves into the hair and mimicking the creations exhibited by both the jewellery and clothing designers.

At a gala dinner, eight models shined with beautiful hairstyles glimmering with specks of the jewels known as 'Black Pearls,' which are indigenous to the lagoons of French Polynesia in the South Seas.

Famous jewellery designer, Woo Hyun Choi, held an exhibition of her distinctive pearl-based designs following the dinner and received much critical acclaim for her work. Similary, the six haute couture creations from Lorena de la Torre displayed at the Park Hyatt impressed visitors through their unique use of the jewels, and were hailed master pieces by many admirers.

Speaking after the event, Fady Salwan, Professional Division Manager, Wella Middle East, said: "We are extremely proud to be asked to be part of this event and as a forward-thinking trend-setting company, we are always keen to experiment with new styles that incorporate unusual and luxurious accessories such as the beautiful Tahitian Peals."

"We wish both designers and 'Perles De Tahiti' every success in the Middle East and are confident their concepts will prove popular with the discerning fashionistas of the Gulf," added Salwan.
