Dubai lesson for Romanian delegation

The delegation from Romania comprised of Vice Presidents of County Councils, County Counselors, Mayors etc. working in the municipality and other public sectors.

The main purpose of the workshop was to use a case study approach and provide an overview of two public sectors - the Dubai Municipality and The Roads Transport Authority, and understand how they strategize and plan to ensure that they provide goods and services to international standards.

This involved understanding the vision of the rulers of Dubai, and how the strategies of the public sectors are aligned to meet the Dubai vision, and to learn about the growth strategy of Dubai, analyze the decision making process and project implementation strategy, analyze the infrastructure development of Dubai and how its aligned to its future plans of becoming the middle east hub for tourism, industry, finance, education, health etc.

Usha Kaul Saraf, Manager CMPD at University of Dubai said, "The three day workshop was an eye opener for the delegates as they had attributed the unprecedented growth of Dubai to petrodollars, once they found out that 95% of Dubai's GDP comes from non-oil account activity they appreciated more the vision of the Dubai rulers, the plans and the efforts that were and are being put in place to ensure that the dream becomes a reality."

The program consisted in a combination of hands-on strategy sessions and outside speakers from various government departments in Dubai. With pinpoint accuracy, CMPD managed to tailor the workshop contents to specifically address the needs of the Romanian group and make it practical and very useful for them, by providing pertinent information, strategies and insights. This way, the Romanian delegation was able to observe and learn from Dubai's success so that they really can apply these lessons to further improve the economic condition of Romania.
