They took part in a seminar during which they were informed of the high standard of education and facilities MUB has to offer.

The MUB flew in the counselors and organized a full schedule of activities, including meetings with students and faculty and have been given a presentation on the MUB and its future expansion plans.

"The first seminar of this type was held last year and proved an invaluable opportunity for us and for the visiting counselors to meet and talk with faculty, staff and students, and to give them a first-hand look at what our university can offer their students," said Prof. Kevin O'Malley, President, RCSI-MUB.

"The aim is to help both the advisors and the students make the right decision when it comes to choosing an institution for higher studies. As a constituent university of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland; the MUB has degree level courses meeting the highest international standards, with qualifications that will be recognized worldwide. The completion of our new hi tech grand campus in Muharraq in 2008 will allow us to expand our activities to include other healthcare specializations," he said.

The site for the construction of the University is immediately adjacent to the planned new King Hamad General Hospital at Muharraq. This hospital will be the main teaching hospital of the MUB Medical and Nursing Schools. In addition, the University will have access to the hospitals, health centers of the Ministry of Health and the BDF Hospital.

The School of Medicine has commenced with the first intake of Foundation Year students in October 2004 at the university's temporary facility in the Seef District. The university has recently launched the School of Nursing and other fields that may be introduced in later stages including Dentistry and Pharmacology.
