Frilled against Dubai's iconic skyline formed by the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Madinat Jumeirah, the journey of the balloons served as a rare visual spectacle for the public.

Surfing the Dubai skies and towering over the city's landmarks, the balloons continued its one-hour tour over Sheikh Zayed Highway towards Global Village, the site of Dubai Balloon Festival's key activities. The balloon flight was sponsored by Etisalat and Dubai International Financial Centre.

Mr. Mohammad Khammas, CEO of Dubai Balloon Festival, said the maiden balloon festival in Dubai has gained enthusiastic public interest. 'Apart from the sheer visual spectacle offered by the balloons, the event's success also owes to the committed support of our sponsors. They have outlined several key activities that enhance the family's participation during this festive season. The sponsors are in turn supporting the tourism initiatives of Dubai by attracting more visitors to events such as the Dubai Balloon Festival.'

The night glow of the balloons will be held at Global Village through December 30, from 8 pm onwards, culminating in a sparkling display of fireworks. Mass balloon flights will also take place on 28th, 29th and 30th December at 7 am from Global Village (access via Gate Number 7) and 3.30pm on 28th December from Madinat Jumeirah Parking.
