  • PRESS RELEASE

Etihad Airways, the National Airline of the UAE, has confirmed that it will be the Platinum sponsor of this year's Al Ain Air Show, a highlight of the international aerobatics event calendar.

The Al Ain Air Show 2007 will take place from 26 to 30 January and will be open to the general public.

The annual show, which is held under the patronage of H.H. Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, is expected to draw more than 125,000 attendees from more than 40 countries around the world. Many of the spectators will be holiday-makers travelling with Etihad to take part in the five-day aerobatic festival.

The 2007 event is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority under the direction of H. H. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

"Etihad supports significant international events and activities that highlight the growing role Abu Dhabi is assuming on the world's sports and entertainment calendar," said James Hogan, CEO, Etihad Airways.

"Whether it is European PGA golf or world-class power boating, Etihad recognizes value in sponsorships that support and make possible the events in which our Guests are interested. The Al Ain Air Show with its far reaching international participation is always a popular event."

Attendees will see impressive aerobatic teams from UAE, India, Pakistan, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Russia, to name just a few of the international participants.

Static displays are also a highlight of the event, with several jet aircraft of varying size and description on display for enthusiasts to photograph.

A major attraction at the 2006 event was the participation of the UAE's F-16 aircraft.

France also had a special presence with its Breitling jet team, while five Soukhoi jets from Russia entertained the audience with an electrifying display.
