Speaking on his appointment to Concept Media Mark Johnson said, "Dubai is known as the creative nerve centre for media in the Middle East and Concept Media is one of the driving forces of that creativity. Mark brings with him over 13 years of local and international media experience. Having started his career at Metal Bulletin Publishing in UK, he then moved on to the BBC where he did a three-year stint, as news correspondent. Having moved to the Middle East in late 2004, he started off as the launch editor of The Gate, a financial markets magazine for the Middle East, published by ITP on behalf of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Mark then joined as business editor for Gulf News, from there he moved to 7DAYS as the newspaper's business editor. Prior to joining Concept Media, Mark launched his own online news portal biznewsme.com, which is now a part of Concept Media, covering a cross section of retail, real estate and sports news.
"Concept's youthful dynamism and media passion means it recognises the increasingly important role of online media and news, and I am delighted they saw the potential of biznewsme.com," Mark further added.
"With titles such as Millionaire, the division's luxury consumer title, RetailME, which is the region's most exciting business-to-business retail publication, and Emirates Business Pages that will be the first official directory for Emirates Post, there isn't an editor in town who could wish for a better base from which to grow."
