  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 09 - 2007 at 10:42
  • PRESS RELEASE

InterContinental Hotels group, the world's most global hotel company, dominated the 2006 Hotel Marketing Association Awards in London this month, winning four of six accolades on offer and beating off stiff competition from across the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

While the group as a whole won awards for 'Best Leisure Marketing Activity' and 'Best Innovation in Marketing', as well as a Highly Commended for 'Best Use of Technology', the Holiday Inn brand won the 'BDRC Marketing Achievement Award' in the category of 'Brand Performance in 2006' and was named the 'Leading Choice Hotel Brand - Leisure'.

While the titles of 'Best Leisure Marketing Activity' and 'Best Innovation in Marketing' were awarded for a Pan-European film partnership campaign featuring 'Open Season', the Highly Commended for 'Best Use of Technology' recognised InterContinental Hotel group's Business Club initiative.

"This is an unprecedented achievement for the group and testament to the extraordinary efforts being made by all to support the all InterContinental Hotels Group brands' ongoing development and evolution," said Tom Rowntree, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Middle East and Africa. "Our brand proposition, 'in the know,' is clearly resonating throughout the company and we are especially proud that the EMEA region is proving to be so successful across all disciplines."

The Hotel Marketing Association (HMA) awards are the only honours dedicated to recognising excellence in hotel marketing. The HMA is the official branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing specifically for the hotel industry and it exists to provide education in hotel marketing, to raise the standard of hotel marketing and to endorse good marketing practise.
