Toshiba launches first multimedia notebook with re-writable DVD

Toshiba today launched its first multimedia notebook with re-writable DVD (DVD-R/RW).

The Satellite® 5200 notebook series combines the latest Intel® processing power, awesome multimedia features and a dedicated video processing engine for the industry's best DVD and video playback.

"The new Satellite® 5200 notebooks will give users the best-of-the-best available in mobile multimedia computing," said Ahmed Khalil, sales and marketing manager of Toshiba's Middle East Computer Systems Marketing Division.

"Whether intended for entertainment or business use, this stylish notebook will fulfill every multimedia need."

Showcasing Toshiba's technology leadership, the Satellite® 5200 includes the new powerful NVIDIA® GeForce4™ 460 Go graphics processing unit (GPU) to create the ultimate mobile multimedia experience.

Designed for technology enthusiasts and power-user, the Satellite® 5200 has the ability to perform any application. Equipped with a powerful Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 processor-M up to 2.0GHz, up to 512 MB of RAM (expandable to 1024MB) and up to 60 GB hard disk drive, this notebook will deliver unrivalled performance.

"Offering additional optical media for added performance, users can also take advantage of the new Toshiba Style Bay, ready for an additional hard disk drive (HDD), second battery and a 4- in -1 bridge media adapter," said Ahmed Khalil.

The Satellite® 5200 series includes a wide range of input and output devices, including a Secure Digital™ expansion slot, a TV-out port, three USB2.0 ports and a high-speed i.Link (IEEE 1394) port. On board communications include integrated Bluetooth™ capabilities and Ethernet port. Wireless LAN upgradeable, the Satellite® 5200 series allows easy service upgrade and put in a mini PCI Wi-Fi™ module to create wireless network. A unique Toshiba Remote Control allows users via infrared to control applications such as playing DVD's, managing Powerpoint® presentations and adjusting volume control without needing to access the keyboard.
