Microsoft & Infoline back Digital Nation
- Oman: Tuesday, January 09 - 2007 at 15:59
- PRESS RELEASE
The recently launched Digital Nation seminar series has captured people's imagination and received an incredible amount of support from the ICT community - organizations such as Microsoft, Infoline, HP, Omania e-Commerce and OER are backing this important national initiative says Mohamed Al Maskari, Director General, Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM).
Since its launch in 2003, KOM has run a highly successful outreach program for the region's digerati - conferences, seminars and workshops that are not only intended to promote the Rusayl-based technology park and its now fifty-strong tenant base but also to keep the pulse of what's next and track how some of the brightest minds in the ICT are working and feeling.
"The Digital Nation program is tackling issues that are big enough to matter, but small enough to win," commented Abdullah Lootah, Microsoft's Country Manager for Oman. "These four high-end gatherings will provide inspiration and cross-fertilization for those who attend. It's clear from the agenda that this is an ambitious ICT initiative - to be something more, a place where the assembled brainpower can really contribute to the development and deployment of technology in Oman and this is why we've decided to partner KOM in this important series of seminars."
According to Sameer Gupta, Vice Executive President, Infoline and a key sponsor of the Digital Nation program: "KOM events are famed for attracting the smartest people that like to think out of the box, these are optimistic folk that are problem solvers, entrepreneurs, techies, bankers, teachers, policy makers, designers, manufacturers, folk from various walks of life - but what they all have in common is that they're doers and risk takers. This is what excites Infoline about this year-long ICT program."
