Opec production falls

Opec crude production in December 2006 dropped 245,000 bpd to 38.62m bpd, the lowest since May 2004, according to a Bloomberg News survey. Saudi's output fell 100,000 barrels to 8.7m bpd. Opec members have cut output by 755,000 bpd since the start of November, 63% of the 1.2m bpd of reductions pledged in October. A further cut of 500,000 bpd is due to take effect from 1 February 2007.
