Meeting on Aviation Safety & Security within the Gulf States Sub-region

The fourth meeting of the Steering Committee for Cooperative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Programme (COSCAP-GS) was held at the General Civil Aviation Authority Dubai Regional Office on 08th and 09th January, 2007.
The Steering Committee was created as a regional forum for addressing, in a unified manner, all flight safety and aviation security aspects with a view towards harmonization of regulations, policies and procedures within the sub-region.
Topics included the sharing of available resources in the aviation safety and security oversight areas and training to enhance the professionalism and qualifications of national Inspectors to best serve the travelling public. Presentations were also given by ICAO, EASA and the FAA on topics affecting aviation safety and security.
The Steering Committee also undertook to establish regional forums to develop aviation safety and security with regional air transport operators, airports and Civil Aviation Organisations.
All participants expressed their commitment to ensuring that aviation safety and security remains their highest priority and Member States reconfirmed their commitment to remain at the leading edge of civil aviation regulation.
