With runner numbers expected to top 6,000 across the three categories - the 3km 'Seeing is Believing' fun run, 10km road race and 42.195km full marathon - the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon is set to take Dubai's streets by storm along it's new route passing some of the city's best-know international landmarks.
'Having such a huge variety of people participating in this year's races really reflects Dubai's multi-cultural, cosmopolitan atmosphere,' said Nigel Jones, CEO, Standard Chartered UAE.
'With the change in route, we're hoping to not only break records with the number of people taking part, but also the numbers of spectators lining the course and supporting the runners.'
The 42.195 km marathon will begin at 7am, with the 10 km road race starting ten minutes later and the three kilometre fun run at 10.30am.
In addition to the three races at the event, the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon 2007 will create a carnival atmosphere at the start/finish line behind the Dubai World Trade Centre, with major attractions including a painting competition for children across Dubai and a secondary schools 'Battle of the Bands' competition.
