DCCI hosts first new business group open meeting

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hosted the first open meeting of the Foodstuffs Trading Business Group, one of seven new business groups planned by the Chamber. Mr Obaid Al Tayer, President of DCCI, chaired the meeting.
Addressing representatives of the Foodstuffs Trading Group, DCCI President Obaid Al Tayer said: "This meeting is of great significance. Besides being the first meeting of its kind at the Chamber, it represents the launch of the DCCI's new strategy."
He added: "The foodstuffs sector is a vital part of the local economy. Meetings like today's are an ideal platform to exchange views, discuss relevant issues, and address mutual concerns."
Those attending the meeting agreed to form a special committee to represent members and articulate their views. Applications to stand on the committee are to be submitted within the next week.
New Business Groups are also in the pipeline for printing and publishing; land transport; food and beverages manufacturing; building materials trading and manufacturing; pharmaceuticals, healthcare and hospital equipments; and for organisers of exhibitions and conferences. The Land Transport Business Group is scheduled to meet on Saturday, October 12.
