HH Sheikh Hamdan takes on key role as patron of Moutamarat's International Design Forum

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Executive Council of Dubai, has agreed to act as patron for the International Design Forum (IDF).
Khalid Al Malik, Senior Vice-President, Industry and Knowledge, Tatweer, Chief Executive Officer, Moutamarat, welcomed Sheikh Hamdan's involvement. He said: "We are grateful to HH Sheikh Hamdan for taking on this very important role which raises the profile of the IDF and ensures its significance is recognized.
"The Forum offers something new and different for the Arab world and will have a positive impact on increasing awareness of regional design trends and talent. This initiative looks to the future and Sheikh Hamdan recognizes the contribution it can make to opening up new opportunities for national and regional design talent."
The IDI is being developed around a flagship series of research projects, meetings, forums, debates, installations and visits. Its aims are comprehensive and its activities will impact on all aspects of global design.
The activities of the IDI are guided and supported by its Design Advisory Board. Board members include Villa Moda's Sheikh Majed Al-Sabah; Zaha Hadid, the UK architect and Professor at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna; Nadim Karam, architect, artist and Principal, Atelier Hapsitus, Lebanon; Bernard Khoury, architect, DW5, Lebanon; Rem Koolhaas, architect and Principal of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, OMA, The Netherlands; Khalid al-Najjar, architect and Principal [dxb] LAB, UAE; Stefano Boeri, architect, urban planner and editor of Domus, Italy; and Karim Rashid, the leading interior design and architecture guru.
Using an innovative format set to stimulate thinking and knowledge exchange in the field of design, the IDF's sessions will take the form of informative, lively and challenging discussions on the different connotations of design and its intersection with other disciplines. Installations and other designers' lounges will celebrate the power of design, while an innovative learning experience will be provided through high-level debates and new knowledge products.
