This move will support the group's strategy for growth in the increasingly important Middle East, Africa and India region.

Founded in 1979, Research Surveys is headquartered in Cape Town, with offices in Johannesburg and Durban and a well-established management team. Its client base includes major South African and international companies. Research Surveys was previously a subsidiary of Adcorp Holdings Limited. Turnover for the year ended 31st December 2005 was South African Rand 101.5 million (£7.4 million*) and gross assets at that date were South African Rand 40.7 million (£2.9 million*).

David Lowden, Chief Executive of TNS, said: "This move gives us a strong presence in South Africa and wider still into sub-Saharan Africa. It enables us to expand our local client base and give those South African clients access to the TNS global network and the extensive research expertise that represents. We are very happy that we are able to do this with Research Surveys, a company with which we have had a long association."
