Web Awards Committee in coordination with Business Software Alliance commences registration for the 2007 Pan Arab Web Awards

Following the resounding success of the first "Pan Arab Web Awards" held in 2006, Business Software Alliance (BSA), the foremost organization dedicated to promoting a safe and legal digital world, and the Pan Arab Web Awards Committee have announced the third edition of the annual awards.

The "Pan Arab Web Awards 2007" will be open for participation from today till January 31, 2007.

The "Pan Arab Web Awards" is a first-of-its-kind award dedicated to honor talented web developers and designers in the Arab World and to safeguard the integrity of their Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The competition is open for all organizations and freelance web designers, web developers and web owners.

The ceremony will have participants from Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kingdom of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Syria, Iraq and Palestine. The winner of the "Best Website in the Arab world" will receive the highest honor at a gala ceremony to be held during the month of March.

All 24 award categories will have three winners each. The top winner in each category will be presented a golden trophy, while the second and third winners will receive silver and bronze trophies respectively. Grading will be applied by a jury comprised of experts in the field of web design and will special criteria designated according to specific high-level standards of web design.

"The success of the inaugural edition of the 'Web Awards' has encouraged us to hold the event on a larger scale this time around," said Jawad Al Redha. "In the Digital Age, websites have emerged as a key source of information and a platform for business transactions. Aspects such as layout and user-friendliness of a website are all crucial to projecting a positive image of the owning company. Through the 'Pan Arab Web Awards', we seek to provide participants an outlet for creative expression and at the same time leverage the profile of the event to bring attention to the importance of respecting Intellectual Property Rights."

Pierre Moukarzel, President of the Pan Arab Web Awards Committee, said, "The 'Pan Arab Web Awards' seeks to recognize excellence in web designing and development by bringing together web design companies, freelancers and web owners in a competition for the best website in each of the designated categories. We expect this year's award to draw wide participation, and are confident this first-of-its-kind award will grow to become one of the Arab World's premier web events."

The award categories include: Best Bank website, Best Commercial and Financial website, Best e-commerce website, Best Educational website, Best Fashion website, Best Government website, Best Public Organisation and Municipalities website, Best Hospital or Health Organisation website, Best Industrial website, Best International Organisation website, Best Consulate website, Best Media and Advertising website, Best Non-Governmental website, Best Individual website, Best Sports website, Best Tourist Website, Best Air, Land and Sea Transportation website, Best Airline website, Best Car Sale and Rental website, Best Entertainment website and the Best Real Estate website.
