Dubai World to host Global Management Forum

Top leaders and managers of various Dubai World business units from around the world will converge in the city January 16 to share their strategic vision and plans at the first ever Global Management Forum organized by the holding company.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman, Dubai World, will present the key-note speech at the two-day event, which will bring together nearly 200 CEO's and senior directors of the group, and will include a number of sessions aimed at promoting greater synergy and exchange of knowledge between them.

Mr. Bin Sulayem said: 'The Global Management Forum is a significant event and is designed to facilitate greater interaction between the various business units comprising Dubai World. It has always been our desire to include a variety of strategic pathways in our core functioning and this event intends to encourage exchange of knowledge and experiences between our various units.

'It is an occasion for our senior managers to stop and think about how they currently operate. It's also an opportunity for them to network with colleagues from around the world and swap best practice ideas.'

Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Secretary General, Dubai World, said: 'The Forum presents a vital opportunity for our senior management teams to learn from each other's experiences and enable us to find greater synergy in our work. It will also lead to sharing of management techniques and strategies, and encourage collaborative strategic thinking.'

Held at the Bab El Shams Resort Hotel, the first day of the Forum will include speeches by Mr. Bin Sulayem; Klaus Herms, CEO of Kuehne Nagel; Dr Martin Stopford, Director of Research, Clarksons; Riyad Abdulrahman Al Mubarak, Executive Director, Investment Management Group; Saad Zaman, Deputy CEO, Millennium Capital Holdings; Mohammed Sharaf, CEO of DP World; Chris O'Donnel, CEO of Nakheel; and David Jackson, CEO of Istithmar.

A gala dinner will be later hosted at the hotel where senior officials from the company will be present.

Day 2 of the Global Management Forum will see a leadership development and networking programme, including inter-active exercises on such related topics as business best practices, cross-cultural models, team dynamics and group synergy.
