Cambridge appoints Chris Daw as Regional Manager, Middle East and North Africa

University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) announced the appointment of Chris Daw as its new regional manager for Middle East and North Africa.

Chris will be based at CIE's Dubai office.

Chris has been CIE's Curriculum Teacher Support Manager for the past five years, leading Cambridge's work in supporting our teachers through CIE's programme of training events and services, providing professional development and support including online training, face-to-face training, e-learning and training via video conferencing. In her new role in Dubai, Chris will work towards ensuring a strong and long-term presence for CIE in the Middle East and North Africa.

Chris has extensive experience in education and assessment. She obtained a BA in Social Sciences and proceeded to Post Graduate Certificate in Education followed by Masters Degree with Distinction at the University of Warwick. She has worked as a teacher in secondary education, as a Deputy Headteacher taking a particular interest in teacher education and curriculum development.

She joined the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate in 1986 and has worked in a number of areas developing assessments for the UK.

Chris takes on the role from William Bickerdike who was appointed Regional Manager, South Asia, in May.

CIE offers high-quality, international examinations and qualifications to students around the world, including those in the Middle East region. To help teachers in their efforts to provide the best education possible and allow schools to develop, Cambridge also provides strong support and training.

Chris' role in Dubai will involve focusing on improving customer service and building relationships with schools, colleges and educational organisations in the region.

Nick Sansome, CIE's Education Development Manager, said: "Cambridge is at the forefront of the Middle East's growing interest in international education and Chris' considerable experience of working with CIE's educational partners and teachers around the world will be vital in supporting and Cambridge schools."
