Cirque du Soleil® extends its stay in Dubai

  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 16 - 2007 at 13:19
  • PRESS RELEASE

Promoters of Quidam™, Cirque du Soleil® inaugural production in the Middle East's have been overwhelmed by the record-breaking response to the show and today announced that the show will be extended to February 10, adding twenty additional performances to the Dubai season of Quidam.

"The tremendous reaction to Quidam has been so inspiring for the cast and crew, who have poured their hearts into the record-breaking first two weeks of the Dubai season. The 20 additional performances are a way of saying 'thank you' to the region and will allow those who may have missed their chance to experience our unique blend of physical expression and entertainment," said Rob MacKenzie, tour director of Quidam.

Quidam has already been seen by more than 40,000 people in Dubai and is fast becoming the most talked-about, 'must see' event in the Middle East. As Rozelle Simpson, who saw the show last week, attests.

"Just a quick note to let you know that we had a great time at Cirque du Soleil yesterday - all 33 of us. It was a wonderful show, with truly breath-taking moments. Our seats were fantastic, and the tickets were worth every dirham. It was also refreshing to see something so well-organised and professionally done in Dubai. Everyone really appreciated the immense amount of work you and your company did, in order to bring this amazing group of artists to Dubai. Please do let me know if you bring other Cirque shows to Dubai, as our family & friends will be first in the queue to buy tickets."

The release of new tickets for Quidam means that thousands more spectators will have the opportunity to witness the 50 performers from 13 countries as they tell the story of an anonymous world transformed into a place of hope and connection through acrobatics, contortion, aerial displays, dance, and music. Already, Cirque du Soleil has broken all previous ticket sales records for a Middle East entertainment offering.
