FAMCO signs major deal with Al Jaber

The contract was signed off to FAMCO after stiff competition, and includes the delivery of Volvo L70E Multi-purpose Wheel Loaders, IR ABG Asphalt Paver Finishers (Titan 8820's and Titan 325's), together with IR DD90 Asphalt Rollers and IR P250WCU Portable Air Compressors.

Volvo L70E wheel loaders are working in Al Jaber's various ongoing projects including Al Raha Beach Development, Sadiyat Island, ICAD II and Abu Dhabi International Airport expansion. The IR machines are to pave a new 4,100m runway being built by Al Jaber approximately 2,000 meters north of the existing runway at the Abu Dhabi International Airport. The runway project is worth over AED 1billion and Al Jaber will handle the project in a joint venture with Odebrecht of Brazil.

"This contract is the result of a coordinated effort between different parts of our organization to find the right solution for Al Jaber. Mr. Mohammad Gheith, Plant Manager, Al Jaber added, "With the addition of these Volvo and Ingersoll Rand machines, we believe that we will be able to achieve our objective far more effectively. Al Jaber's contract is part of an AED 25billion project initiated by the Abu Dhabi Government to expand Abu Dhabi airport capacity to 20 million passengers by 2010 from the current design of 3.5 million passengers. Abu Dhabi Airport Company's Master Plan includes a 220,000 square metre terminal midway between the existing runway and the new runway to be built by Al Jaber.
