The company cited a growth in sales of its analog modems, as well as a surge in demand for networking and wireless connectivity solutions in both the home and small to medium businesses sectors. The company added that, whereas it is seeing an increase in customer demand for broadband solutions, it still expects analog products to account for most of its revenue for the region in the coming period.

Peter Blampied, U.S.Robotics' director of sales and operations for Europe the Middle East and Africa said that the company's presence in the region through its Dubai headquarters has played an important role in this growth, adding: 'the Internet uptake in the Middle East is still quite active, and our experience in this market has proved to us that users here, although price conscious, also seek quality solutions, and they tend to trust the brands that they recognize over cheap generics. Our long history in the region, combined with the strength of our partnerships has also played a key role in this success'

U.S.Robotics' analog products are mainly marketed through its distribution channel; whereas the company has been setting up value add partnerships to cater to the growing demand for broadband solutions in the region. U.S.Robotics' regional office in Dubai works with partners to ensure that it is bringing the solutions best suited to the different countries in the Middle East. For instance, in the past year, new arabised packaging was introduced to better address users in the region.

'Currently, our users, especially in small to medium companies and homes still draw on 56k as their default way to connect to the web. Yet this is changing gradually, and we expect a sharp move towards broadband in the very near future, as ISPs adopt it around the region,' said Yusuf Syed, regional sales manager for the Middle East and India. 'At the same time, we have noticed new trends: network cards and wireless solutions today represent an increasingly significant part of our business, which means that more homes and small offices today use networks to work and play'

U.S.Robotics' suite of networking solutions includes Ethernet connectivity products, routers and gateways, as well as wireless solutions. The company recently announced cutting edge 22mbps wireless solutions, including the wireless PC card, PCI adapter, access point and cable/DSL router.
U.S.Robotics is present this year at the stand of its partner, APTEC in Hall 4 of the exhibition.
