SanDisk officially opens regional headquarters in Dubai

SanDisk, the world's largest supplier of flash storage card products, today officially launched its regional headquarters in Dubai, covering the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Levant (Jordan and Lebanon), Greece, Turkey and Africa.

Since last year SanDisk has expanded its store front network in the region from 2,340 in 2005 to 6,705 to date.

"SanDisk products witnessed a significant growth in the Middle East over the past few years. Together with the distributors in the region, we are now in a situation where we have tripled our store fronts in Middle East countries and we are pleased to step up and open our regional headquarters in Dubai," elaborated Edward Moro, SanDisk's vice president, managing director of EMEA.

Moro also discussed the rapid growth and future of the mobile entertainment market and detailed his vision on the future of the flash memory market.

Moro also announced that SanDisk is in the process of finalizing plans to launch Arabic language support for its flagship sansa MP3 players in the very near future.

"SanDisk is fully committed to the region and over the past 12 months, we have stepped up our marketing and channel development efforts in response to the ambitious expansion plan we rolled out last year," said Tareq Husseini, SanDisk's Middle East and Africa Sales Manager.

"2007 started with several innovations from SanDisk. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, we launched several very exciting products including: the Sansa Connect™, a Wi-Fi enabled MP3 player, the Sansa View, our Video Player, a USBTV, the First Digital "Flash DVD Player" for Forting Personal Video and Movies from Home PC to Home TV. These products will be shipped to the region in the second quarter and we expect them to receive strong market demand."
