The announcement was made during Enterprise Ireland's Trade Mission to the United Arab Emirates.
As part of the bank's decision to adopt CR2's internet and SMS channels, Bank of Sharjah will migrate its ATM's to their BankWorld platform maximising channel co-ordination and consolidation. The deployment of CR2's multi-channel solution represents the bank's commitment to significantly enhance customer services in 2007, including, for the first time, the introduction of an online banking facility.
'Expanding our channel offering and extending the variety and quality of service available to customers is of paramount importance to us,' said Mario Tohme, Deputy General Manager, Bank of Sharjah.
'BankWorld Internet enables us for the first time to provide customers with a secure and flexible online banking service. Our successful history with CR2 makes them the perfect partner to assist us in developing a multi-channel banking service and strategy. As a result of this significant investment our customers will be able to enjoy powerful internet banking as well as SMS statements and notifications later this year.'
BankWorld, CR2's SOA compliant banking platform creates new opportunities for banks to optimise the services they offer to customers. Using CR2's integrated channel management solution, customers and employees alike will have a single consolidated view of all accounts across all channels, Internet, ATM and SMS, with the additional benefits of multi-channel security and EMV compliance. BankWorld gives banks the freedom to define their own transactions, extending the range and type of personalised products and services available to individual customers both online and at the ATM.
'The availability of Internet banking and multi-channel services are a necessity for the success of today's bank in an increasingly self service banking environment,' said Kieran Kilcullen, Global Sales and Marketing Director, CR2. ''We are delighted that Bank of Sharjah have chosen BankWorld to expand their channel offering and view it as a reflection of the considerable confidence that the bank places in CR2.''
