The Arts Village in the Global Village is an initiative of the Dubai Cultural Council with the sole objective of encouraging local artists, to promote art in its very many forms and to ensure that creativity is constantly given the well-deserved pat on the back.
With this end in mind, the art galleries in the Arts Village have been featuring the work of several upcoming and established artists - both local and from the region. The paintings on display are from a varied genre of art, each more exciting and educative than the other, thus presenting an opportunity for the lovers of pure art to see, comprehend and learn more about various art forms.
In addition, there have been live artistic demonstrations in the Arts Village, with established artists coming to discuss and deliberate upon the delightful nuances of their work, their style, the choice of colours and the sublime meaning that each work depicts.
There is considerable local talent available with regard to art and creativity and the Emirates have in the past produced artists of great renown. Be it classic or modern art, calligraphy, photography, sculpture, abstract paintings, the genre that has grown and flourished in the UAE is truly remarkable.
And keeping with the tradition of encouraging artists to ask questions, probe and find out more, get familiar with as many forms of art as possible, the Arts Village and the Art Gallery have ensured there is substantial interaction and dialogue between the visitors and the artists.
The paintings in the gallery are for sale, but it is ensured that the prices are kept as modest as possible. This is to ensure the pieces of art are affordable to the average man walking the street, in addition to the creative marvels reaching homes of art lovers who would cherish and derive great joy from these paintings.
The Art Gallery in the Arts Village will reach a grand finale on January 21, when it will be curtains down for the Gallery. But while the gallery closes, there is no end to art and creativity in UAE, for art is a revered celebration in the Emirates as the Arts Village
The Global Village, a member of 'Tatweer Group', opened its gates to visitors at Dubailand, located on Emirates Road, on December 13, 2006 and runs until February 9, 2007 from 4pm until midnight everyday from Sunday until Wednesday, and from 4 pm until 1am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Mondays are dedicated to families.
